Monolith Solar Associates has installed solar panels at six Schenectady County, NY office buildings that are expected to save up to $25,000 in energy costs in 2013.
The county will receive a 30-percent discount on all the energy that the solar panels produce.
Monolith installed 50-kilowatt solar systems on the county’s ice rink in Glenville, the Rotterdam Branch of the Schenectady County Library, highway department buildings in Rotterdam and the county’s business center on Albany Street in Schenectady.
Legislators expect the county will save up to $50,000 a year in energy costs with the addition of future solar systems.
The recent boost in solar power is driven by government policies that encourage renewable energy, and incentives that drive down the prices of solar energy systems.

URGE NY LEGISLATORS TO EXTEND THE NY-SUN INITIATIVE

                                         ACT NOW

Pass A.5060b, the New York Solar Bill, which extends the NY-Sun Initiative for 10 years through 2023. Passing this historic legislation would support the development of over 2,200 MW of solar across New York, enough to power 400,000 New York homes.
Why is this important?
New York’s NY-Sun Initiative is quickly delivering on its promise of solar energy and local job growth. At least, so far...

Although the state Senate unanimously passed the NY Solar Bill, which extends NY-Sun for 10 more years, the Bill still has to pass in the state Assembly to reach Governor Cuomo’s desk for signature. Without this Bill, the NY-Sun program will be coming to a close in a few short years. With this Bill, the NY-Sun program will support over 2,200 MW of solar across New York, enough to power 400,000 New York homes.  That's why we need your voice.

Sign on and speak up for NY solar:

Extending NY-Sun is exactly what New York needs to build a more resilient power grid and tackle the climate crisis head-on.

I urge the New York State Assembly to pass the New York Solar Bill and deliver the cleaner energy and cleaner air that all New Yorkers deserve.

I urge Speaker Silver and New York State Assemblymembers to stand up and commit to a long-term NY-Sun program, today.

New York's communities, economy, and climate can't wait.  We need a stronger, safer, solar-powered New York today.
How it will be delivered

At a press event during a grassroots lobby day on June 4th at the New York state legislature.
